Meet Tavi!
This snuggly little sweetheart is 12 weeks old and was found in pretty rough shape with her siblings in a feral colony in April and brought to us by our neighbors who care for that colony. She had an upper respiratory infection just like her siblings, but her eyes were in the worst shape. It took 2 rounds of antibiotics and eye ointment to clear everything up. She was mostly blind at first and we thought she would stay that way, but I am VERY happy to say we were wrong! She has gradually regained alot of her sight. It appears she can see fine out of her left eye, we just aren’t sure about the right eye. We’ve watched her run around and play, and she seems to get around perfectly fine and has no trouble following movement. We can attest to the fact, from experience with our last fosters, that a one eyed cat has no trouble being a normal cat and that little impairment doesn’t make her disabled. The only thing that will be different for her is that she cannot be an outdoor kitty. But cats live SO MUCH LONGER when they are indoor only.
Despite the fact that she was totally blind when she first came to us, she was the least scared of all her siblings. She loved being held and would just purr and purr. And once the antibiotics kicked in, she was the most voracious eater despite being the smallest. She loves being held and petted! And she loves toys! Watching her bat around and chase a toy, and her siblings, was how we knew she could see fine. Her right eye might always look a little cloudy, and her left eye has a little scarring, but she is adorable nonetheless!
Tavi has some unique markings too. When she first came to us she was solid black. About 3 weeks in her fur became speckled with silver, and she has a silver “skunk” stripe on her lower back. Her tail has some subtle silver stripes like a tabby’s! It’s really cool!
Tavi has had her first 2 rounds of vaccinations (we will provide copies of the record at pick up). She is dewormed, has no fleas, eats wet and dry kitten food, drinks lots of water, and uses the litterbox.
We require a 25$ adoption fee at pick up to make sure she goes to a good home. Please, please bring a pet carrier at pick up. This is the safest way to transport your new baby home!
